The answers to your questions about the Enlighten whitening system can be found here.
Of all the cosmetic dentistry treatments, teeth whitening remains the most popular. A common misconception that many share about teeth whitening is that it is a quick process that can produce lifelong results after spending 1 hour in the dentist's chair. However, the reality is that these methods can sometimes prove ineffective as patients may have early relapses due to superficial whitening.
More advanced systems tend to take much longer; often between 2 and 4 weeks, but they produce results that you can maintain for a lifetime with a simple at-home supplementation regimen.
Enlighten is a 3-week treatment (for 95% of patients) and guarantees a B1 shade for 98% of cases. Patients receive a treatment kit that they take home and use for a period of 3 weeks. The first 2 weeks consist of constant use of the gel every night. Place the gel in the trays, then insert into your mouth and go to sleep. Rinse them with cold water in the morning and place them in a dry place, upside down, so that the excess water can drain out. Once you have completed the two weeks of night treatment, move on to the final gel in the third week. The 6% gel should be worn for 1 hour a day, for seven days, once this week is complete, you have completed your Enlighten whitening journey.

Follow us as we answer the most common questions about the Enlighten system that patients are eager to know.
1. Do I need to go to the dentist for this?
Yes. Professional whitening systems must be done under the supervision of a dentist in the UK.
2. Can I buy directly from you?
While that would be great, Enlighten whitening is a treatment, not just a product. That means a dentist is needed to perform the treatment, take impressions, and make your custom whitening trays. You also need a checkup before you have the treatment.
3. How long does it take?
3 weeks.
But if you have a complex case, then it can take up to 8 weeks. Your dentist will be able to give you an accurate estimate during your initial appointment.
4. How white will my teeth become?
98% of cases reach shade B1, and some even exceed this level. This happens regardless of age, diet and current tooth shade. A lot of patients reach beyond B1, but we cannot guarantee this.

5. If I don't reach shade B1, what should I do?
First, contact your dentist and tell him your concern (because he will understand your case better than we do), if he contacts us, we will do everything we can to remedy the situation.
6. What is a “saturation point” and what does it mean?
It is basically the point at which your teeth can no longer get whiter. This varies from person to person and cannot be fixed at a single shade.
7. Will my composite crowns/veins/fillings change color?
Unfortunately, they will not change. ☹ Only natural teeth change color. For this reason, we recommend that you have your whitening treatment done first and then consider any cosmetic work to match your newly whitened teeth.
8. Is it a safe treatment?
Completely. Unless you are pregnant or breastfeeding, in which case we advise you to wait.
9. Will it hurt?
An honest answer? There will be some sensitivity due to the nature of how teeth are whitened. But we have done our best to ensure that this is a rare occurrence and many of our patients do not experience any sensitivity. Some experience a little sensitivity and about 21% of our patients experience more intense sensitivity. If you do experience any sensitivity, we promise that it will go away once you stop treatment.
10. Is it suitable for vegans?
Absolute.
11. Are your products tested on animals?
Our products are 100% cruelty-free.

12. How long does it take?
Well, forever, actually. All you have to do is follow a simple at-home recharging regimen.
13. What is the recommended charging regime?
Keep the attachments on your back teeth and refill with a syringe of Week 2 (16% CP) once a month for the first 6 months. Remove the attachments and whiten one night every 2 months for the next year. Long-term, whiten one night every 6 months, or as needed.
14. Do I need to follow a whitening diet?
No. Not at all. Who can go without coffee for 2 weeks?
15. Can I drink red wine/coffee and eat curry, etc.?
Curry, red wine, coffee – you can eat anything. And that's before, during, and after treatment.
And when we say “during treatment”, we mean those 2 weeks of at-home whitening + the in-office procedure (but not while the actual trays are in your mouth).
16. How much does Enlighten whitening cost?
The price will vary from dentist to dentist and practice to practice, so we can't give you an exact figure, but on average it's around £500-£600 for the full system (which includes enough gels for 3 weeks of treatment, custom Enlighten trays and toothpaste).
17. How much does the supplement regimen cost?
And this will differ from dentist to dentist, but the average tends to be between £60+ per syringe and should last 12-18 months.
18. Are there financing options?
They certainly are, many practices now have financing options, but be sure to check with your dentist before booking any appointments.
19. Do I need to keep the gels in the refrigerator?
Ok, this part is crucial. The gels (the three syringes) should always be kept in the refrigerator.

20. What happens if I forget to put the gels in the refrigerator?
Don't worry. If you have left the gels out of the refrigerator for up to 7 days and they have not been left in direct sunlight or near a heat source, put them back in the refrigerator immediately and you should be able to continue using them. Unrefrigerated gels left out for more than 7 days should be discarded and new gels should be purchased. To do this, please contact your dentist.
21. What should I do if I have sensitivity?
To relieve sensitivity, you can wear your aligners with a small amount of toothpaste. Enlighten Serum in each tooth compartment for 1-2 hours before or after whitening.

If you still have sensitivity, then you will need to see your dentist, as extreme sensitivity may be caused by an external factor, and your dentist will likely have another treatment option.
22. When should I use toothpaste?
Every day.
Starting 2 weeks before and during treatment, Enlighten Serum should be used every morning and every night to help relieve sensitivity, in place of regular toothpaste. Then, once you have finished the treatment, switch to using toothpaste Enlighten White for mornings to keep blemishes at bay and prolong results and continue to use Enlighten Serum evening for minor repairs.

The best part is that both toothpaste tubes have all the properties of regular toothpaste in addition to their own.
23. Is there an over-the-counter (OTC) alternative?
No. Professional teeth whitening is the only thing that will free your teeth from all types of stains (intrinsic and extrinsic).
Over-the-counter whitening products only clean extrinsic stains on teeth or dehydrate them, giving the illusion of whiter teeth.
24. Does professional whitening affect enamel?
No. It's 100% safe.
25. Can it damage teeth if done for more than 3 weeks?
Not at all. Aside from some sensitivity, no damage can occur (as long as you follow your dentist's instructions).
26. How many consecutive nights is it safe to bleach?
There really is no set timeframe. After assessing your case, your dentist will give you a timeframe based on your case, and as long as you stick to it, you'll be fine (and if it makes you feel better, some patients with very dark, gray teeth have been known to whiten for up to 6 months straight).
27. Can I control the shade of my teeth?
Up to B1 (which is the shade we guarantee), of course you can. Once you start bleaching, you can do it until you are happy with the shade or until you reach B1.

28. I don't want my teeth to be chalky white, how can I make sure this doesn't happen?
The beauty of teeth whitening is that your teeth will never look fake. In the case of veneers and crowns, they can look unnatural. However, whitened teeth are still your natural teeth and that’s what they will look like – natural.
Additionally, you can stop whitening when you are satisfied with the shade, but keep in mind that during treatment your teeth may become dehydrated and appear whiter than they will appear after they rehydrate a few days later.
29. I finished the 3-week whitening treatment, what do I do now?
Since there is now no more appointment at the dentist's office and you have completed your whitening treatment, enjoy your new pearly white smile! If you feel the need to contact your dentist for any reason, then book an appointment.
30. How do I know if the dentist is good at whitening?
Thanks to social media, it's actually quite easy to figure this out.
Go to your chosen dentist's Instagram or website and browse through the cases they have posted. It will give you a good indication of the type of results they can achieve.
Our top providers are called “Enlighten Regional Centers of Excellence” and you can request a free consultation from them through our website if there is a center near you.
31. If I have problems, who should I contact?
Speak to your dentist as this should be your first point of call, but if you would like to speak to us, please email us at info@enlightensmiles.ro and we will do everything we can to help you.
