With the advancement of teeth whitening techniques, there's never been a better time to talk to your dentist about cosmetic options that can improve your appearance without grinding your teeth<\/strong>. Small adjustments can definitely make a big difference to a smile. These techniques include teeth whitening and bonding with composite materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is certainly refreshing to be moving towards a type of dentistry that makes us feel good and is at the same time harmless to our teeth. Traditional veneers and crowns require cutting the tooth, which can have long-term harmful consequences for a tooth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Small adjustments can definitely make a big difference to a smile.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most common cosmetic concern I hear is dissatisfaction around the front teeth.<\/strong>. This ranges from not liking the color, stains to chips on the teeth or the overall shape. In this article, I will discuss the use of whitening and composite veneers to help achieve a brighter smile without damaging your teeth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Patient case<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Terrence initially came to the office dissatisfied with his discolored teeth and stains around the cracks on his front teeth (see image below).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We discussed all of his options \u2013 which included whitening, composite veneers, or porcelain veneers. Terrence was keen not to damage his teeth, so opted for whitening and composite veneers without milling.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I made a mold of his upper and lower teeth, followed by a treatment of 2 weeks of overnight whitening<\/strong>, with Evolution 3 Enlighten. He reported no sensitivity or discomfort during the whitening process. He was also pleased that he did not have to avoid certain foods or drinks during the 2 weeks, which made the process very easy. Terrence then came into the office for the final stage of whitening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were very happy to see such an excellent result in such a short time (see image below). The discoloration around his cracks had definitely faded and was much less prominent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next phase of treatment was masking fine cracks on the 2 front teeth<\/strong>. I scheduled him for an appointment, where I added Renamel composite directly to his front teeth. Then I polished those teeth. As simple as that!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Terrence was very happy with the final results (see photo below). And the best part for both of them was that no injections or milling were needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maintaining that brighter smile is also simple; a gel top-up every year. The composite bond can also be retouched as needed and is expected to have a lifespan of 5 to 7 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
